Edward sat silently on the edge of the Boardwalk's large wooden, splintering bridge, looking over to the ocean. Soon this would be their new home; away from Bella, away from Forks, away from everything. Time had been running out between them, and Edward hoped that he'd made the right choice, deciding to break Bella's heart once and for all. It wasn't working out between them after all; he'd been convinced that in the beginning when he first met her. This was better, he was doing the right thing. This was the way it was meant to be.
He couldn't help feeling the smallest tinge of remorse and regret. He'd done this before to her; left her for her own good. But this time it was his fault; he was leaving Bella for his own selfish reasons. I don't love Bella anymore. The words felt odd in his mind, like they weren't coming from him. A few days ago he never thought he'd be feeling this way; that he'd be stuck with Bella forever. But now it was the end; the end of everything. Edward knew that he would never find someone for him like he'd found Bella, but he had to. Maybe go back to Tanya, find someone who was good for him, that wasn't dangerous. Someone that he would be putting in danger every moment of every day. Someone.

alice's vision told her where to go; edward would be on the boardwalk of seattle. she immediately took off, not waiting for jasper or emmett to catch up. she needed to talk to her brother alone.
as soon as she spotted edward sitting sadly on the edge of the thin, rickety wooden bridge, her heart went out to him. poor edward. he was still wallowing over what had happened between him and bella, and his conscience was probably pestering him. she was no mind reader, but it wasn't like her brother was unpredictable.
alice sat down next to edward and leaned on his arm.
"Hey bro, what's on your mind?"
